USNS Comfort Hospital Ship on Humanitarian Mission in South America

The U.S. Navy’s Comfort hospital ship departed the Norfolk, Virginia, Naval Station this week. During its 11-week “Enduring Promise” medical assistance mission, it will visit several Central and South American countries. The goal of the deployment is to help alleviate pressure on the medical systems of host nations, in part because of the increase in Venezuelan migrants. Iacopo Luzi toured the ship before it sailed and sent this report.
